Materials and Sustainability

Image
The materials I have chosen for this building is terra cotta for the interior and exterior of the walls, although the interior will be painted in white with blue patterns, I have chosen terracotta because of the materials and texture it brings, talking about sustainability,  Terracotta is super sustainable because it's made from natural clay, which is a plenty. It's durable, can last a long time, can regulate building temperature's and save energy, it can also go through any weather like the heat and rain. It is an awesome material for the environment because it natural and doesn't harm the planet when you make or dispose of it. according to  (Kovalchenko, 2020)   Terracotta is durable, sustainable, low-maintenance, and it can help lower buildings’ energy consumption.  Another material I have chosen is a turquoise tile for the interior of the pool, I have chosen this color because of its unique mix of green and blue would make the blue patterns on the wal...

Site and Demographics

Image
The location I have chosen is in Nigeria, Abuja wuse 2. I have chosen this commercial area because in Nigeria it is known as one of the busiest areas to live in, Choosing this area was a strategic choice because of the areas demographic, consisting on highly paid people who live there. Plus, wuse 2 is a central location and it's accessibility makes it the best spot for this spa. The spa will become a go too retreat for the cities richest individuals, so my target audience for this spa is mainly highly paid millennials, ages ranging from 30's to 40's. The demographics of this spa will attract older individuals because they are health-conscious, value self-care and have a high paid income to be able to spend on wellness and relaxation services. Millennials are increasingly becoming spa-goers, representing 38% of the average  customers  according to (Sharma, 2023), This spa will also attract more women than men because women are more engaged in wellness and beauty. Space Planning\ floor plan

Image
For my space planning I am making a space within a space, for a spa when incorporating a pool within the building, is all about creating a flow that goes well with the rest of the building. The pool area itself should be a retreat, a space within a space, where the water and the bright tiles in the pool becomes the center of attention in the room. The lighting from the arches will bring the effects of natural light. Space planning is an important aspect of this design. It involves considering how people will move through and use the spaces. The goal is to create a balance between the available space and the requirements of the client, whether it's for a home, office, or any other environment. When we talk about "space within a space" in interior design, it refers to the concept of creating distinct zones within a larger area. an example of this is an indoor pool within a spa, I can apply this method by designing the pool area with different floor materials, changing ce...

week 6 Experiment

Image
For week 6 I am experimenting with the color blue. for the walls in my pool room I have said I want to create a Nigerian pattern. The type of pattern i have chosen to create is a Hausa pattern from one of the ethnic groups in Nigeria. I have chosen to use this pattern because Hausa patterns in Nigeria are super vibrant it gives a rich feel to a room. They're made up of bold geometric shapes and symbols that tell stories or represent important aspects of Hausa life. I'd use them on the walls because they add a splash of color and character, plus it's like having a piece of art that has a deep meaning and history behind it. It's a cool way to make any room pop and show off some cultural appreciation.
