for the back of my vest, I layed out the pattern which I made using my original vest as a guide and my body measurements, on top of the fabric, then I cut out the shape leaving seem allowance. 

Moving on, I pinned the fabric at the edges I wanted to close, to make it clean. 

After sewing the back of the vest, I sewed the front of the vest to the back at the sides. 
for the stitching and seems I used a straight line stitching

    Good work on developing this now just add more commentary perhaps about the stitching and the seams
