material Research ( final project)

For my material research I would be looking at organic cotton. The reason why I have chosen organic cotton for my fashion design project is because it is more sustainable Organic cotton is more sustainable and ethical than regular cotton, protecting the environment.(Cariki, 2021) organic cotton is harvested using sustainable methods that do not rely on chemical defoliants. This reduces the risk of chemical exposure for farm workers and surrounding communities, promoting better health outcomes

(Cariki, 2021)

Another cool thing about organic cotton is that it uses less water. Normal cotton needs a lot of water to grow, which can be a big problem in places where water is already scarce. According to the WWF, it takes 2,700 liters of water to produce the cotton needed for just one t-shirt, whereas organic cotton only uses 243 liters (You Underwear, 2021). Organic cotton farming techniques help the soil hold onto water better, so they don't need to use as much. This helps save water, which is super important with all the droughts and water shortages happening around the world.
Plus, organic cotton is better for the people who grow it. The chemicals used in regular cotton farming can be really harmful to farmers, causing health problems from being exposed to all those toxins. One of the key reasons organic cotton is better than conventional cotton is because organic cotton does not use pesticides or chemical fertilizers to grow (Cariki, 2021) Organic cotton farmers don't have to deal with those risks, making their work much safer.
Lastly, organic cotton feels better on your skin. Since it’s grown without harmful chemicals, it’s less likely to cause allergies or irritate your skin. It’s softer and more breathable.

  1. Good that you have added this but you also need to add how you are using cotton in your own outfit
