Website Evaluation
Planning stage:
What were your initial ideas for creating a website? style / name / template
I created this website to showcase my love for interior design, It is a platform were I can share my work. I chose a style that would go with my style of interior design, for the name I chose to use Marvin, my name, because i like the meaning. I picked a template i felt with correspond really well with my designs.
Do you have a tagline on your website?
No I do not have a tagline on my website.
Research:
Which designers / artists (relevant to your continuation route) websites did you look for inspiration?
I looked at Kelly Hoppen because I like her use of clean lines. I also looked at Kengo Kuma because of his minimalistic designs and his use of a limited color palette. I feel these two designers works really helped me to structure how i wanted my website to look.
How many pages did you want to make on your website and why? Did that change as you progressed onto the research / designing stage?
I wanted four pages each one to show something different. The About, home, Portfolio and contact page. I did this so the reader has easy access to find a certain information. Yes the number of pages became five because i had to include a subpage to show my work under the portfolio.
Content:
What is the purpose of your website?
I created this website to show my work and for my work to reach a larger audience.
Who are your potential website users?
My potential website users will be the Gen Z and the employers
Why do you think it is important to have a digital portfolio website?
it allows you to showcase your work to a larger audience. A website can be accessed from any part of the world giving you the opportunity to reach your clients from anywhere.
Design:
Which design elements / tools did you use? (e.g.: infographics, fixed header, static background image, navigation menu design, text boxes, image galleries, social media feed) and why?
For my website used wix. I used a fixed footer and a header, I did this because I wanted them to show on every page on my website. For the font I used the Caudex font on every writing in my website, On my homepage I used an image I found from Unsplash to fill the background on my website. I did the same thing for my navigation menu i did the same things. For my image gallies I wanted something that is easy for the reader the use and view my designs I have chose a gallery to changes after every 3 seconds. Lastly my social media such as youtube, TikTok, Instagram and Pinterest rest on the footer of my website. On my footer I have also added my copyright logo. To do all these I have used the add button and links to design the whole website.
Navigation:
Does your website have working social media icon links?
Yes my website has social media icons, I have placed all my social media icons on the fotter of my website, I used the add button, then clicked on the icons button to change the Social media icons.
Are your pages connected / interlinked?
I have only 2 pages which are connected and that is the Portfolio page which has the button to take the reader to my project page in which we call a sub page.
Is it easy to navigate?
Yes, my website is very easy to navigate, The pages and the links move smoothly and the navigation bar seats clearly at the top of my website.
Does the “Contact” page / email link work?
Yes the contact page and email link work perfectly fine.
Good work here - I would just adjust your potential users as your future employers, clients or even university
