Final process

Moving on,  painted the black part of the wings on to the fabric, I did this first so if I were to make any mistakes or paint out the lines when I start applying my colour I could easily clean it up with the black. I then painted all the colours inside the spaces and decided to paint the borders of the top pink. Using acrylic paint I painted the bottom part red and yellow giving it an orange blend in the middle. I did the same for the top using green and blue giving it a green blend in the middle.   I finally ended with the borders being painted pink. Doing this I have understood how to paint of fabric, I have developed my ability to blend acyclic colours on cotton fabric using less water and a larger brush.

I then placed my handmade pattern on the fabric and cut it out after cutting it out I used saftey pins to hold it in so I would be able to sew them together                                    I then hammered the holes using a hammer and eyelids    I did the same thing for the other half    If I were to make this again I would make the 2 wings equal and adding more clean edges. I would also create holes like the ones at the top of the butterfly wings. Make these tops I have learnt how to make holes using eyelids and a hammer.

3D outcome ( pattern making)

For my Butterfly top I was unable to find a pattern that was the shape of the butterfly I wanted and my size as well was considered, I decided to then be creative and make my own pattern.  I used masking tape and taped the shape to my body, I then used a pair of scissors to clean up the edges. After that I removed it and transferred it on to my fabric.

3D final outcome Research

In my own research I found out that the butterfly top was originally inspired by Cher's butterfly look which she wore to the grammy's in 1974, she wore this top along side a matching a hairclip. The top came back in the early 2000s appearing on the red carpet but in a better design as seen on Mariah Carey. Emmanuel Ungaro was the famous designer behind this recreation look. He showcased this embedded butterfly top in his 2000 haute couture spring runway show. He used this design in different forms on the runway. This piece was a perfect blend of creativity and elegance, showcasing Ungaro's incredible design skills. The butterfly top featured intricate embroidery with vibrant colors that made it look like a piece of art. the top had a beautiful use of appliqué, where fabric pieces were sewn onto the base material to create the butterfly design. The embroidery was exquisite, with fine stitching that added depth and texture to the butterfly wings. The top also had a peplum, ...

material Research ( final project)

For my material research I would be looking at organic cotton. The reason why I have chosen organic cotton for my fashion design project is because it is more sustainable  Organic cotton is more sustainable and ethical than regular cotton, protecting the environment. (Cariki, 2021) organic cotton is harvested using sustainable methods that do not rely on chemical defoliants. This reduces the risk of chemical exposure for farm workers and surrounding communities, promoting better health outcomes (Cariki, 2021) Another cool thing about organic cotton is that it uses less water. Normal cotton needs a lot of water to grow, which can be a big problem in places where water is already scarce. According to the WWF, it takes 2,700 liters of water to produce the cotton needed for just one t-shirt, whereas organic cotton only uses 243 liters  (You Underwear, 2021).   Organic cotton farming techniques help the soil hold onto water better, so they don't need to use as much.
